Race Course

The River Trail 15K course will be the same in 2010 as in past years. Designs on a slightly modified course will be unveiled after the race for the 2011 running. But for one more year, it will be the same River Trail 15K course you've always run.

Course Description

The race starts on Tournament Drive in the Burns Park Soccer Complex. The first mile winds through roads and parking lots of the soccer complex. Shortly after passing the first mile marker, the route turns left onto the Arkansas River Trail and heads east. Once the second mile is completed, the course moves up a small hill to reach the Burns Park Golf Course.

A short downhill moves runners past the golf course, to a wooden bridge crossing over a small creek. The route then curves right through Emerald Park and crosses the three mile and 5K landmarks. Coming out of Emerald Park, the course covers another small uphill section to reach the Old Rock Quarry. Once the flat stretch through the quarry has been completed, the course reaches the 4 mile mark and Riverview Park.

The route continues straight on River Road for another very flat stretch of almost a mile. At this point, the course makes a sharp turn and heads down a small hill to get back onto the Arkansas River Trail where the route returns west. This stretch on the River Trail passes by the 5 mile mark and take runners back to Riverview Park.

From Riverview, the course returns on the Arkansas River Trail through the Old Rock Quarrey, Emerald Park, the Burns Park Golf Course until eventually reaching the Burns Park Soccer Complex once again. One small loop through a soccer complex parking lot takes runners to the finish line!
